If you put one of the books in a window by itself, the
links are accessed with the right button of the mouse.
Use the left button for work in the framed commentary.
(If you want to read more of this document, you have to make it the
"current window": click the left button of your mouse in this frame
(window). Now you can scroll- with the up/down arrows or by placing
the mouse on the right border, holding down the left button and moving
up or down.)
You need to learn three simple procedures in the beginning:
1. The internal borders may be moved. If you need more space to read a file, put your cursor on the inside border until you see a little cross: hold the left button down, and drag it away to give the window more room. Try that now, and do it until you become familiar with the procedure. (Of course when you do that, your text will move, and you'll have to find where you want to be with Procedure 2.)
2. To scroll the text you have two options, but first you must make sure the text you're interested in is in the current window. To do that you put your mouse in that window and click with your left button. You can click on any of three windows (the middle small one at the top and two large ones below); if you're using the Netscape browser, you'll see a darker border around that window. Regardless of that it has become the current window.
To scroll (move text) your first option is the cursor keys and/or Page Up and Page Down. That's good for reading.
The other option is to put your mouse on the scroll gadget, hold down the left button and move up or down. That's good for moving a lot of text in a second.
3. To return to a previous screen that has disappeared: click on
the back button at the top left or hold down the alt key and
tap the left cursor key. You may need to do this twice since two
windows will likely be modified.
Occasionaly nothing seems to work.
Open the 'go' window and guess at one of the options. You'll learn to
do this with practice.
With those three simple procedures you should be able to navigate, follow the hyperlinks, read all you want to, and come back to where you were when you want to do that. You will find many words underlined; clicking on an underlined word will take you to the part of the Bible (or the notes) which the word(s) suggests.
You may return to these elementary instructions any time by clicking on the HELP at the top of the screen. Some times you may want to start over a different way--by going up to the url window and clicking on it; then hit the RETURN key.
It would be smart to copy all the files on the floppy to a new subdirectory on your hard drive. Then bring up c:\directory-name\begin.htm, and you're off to the races.
If you're ready to look at one of the books of the Bible, try clicking on the underlined word in the other window.
Otherwise the best way is to move your cursor up to to the upper middle window, click there and then use your cursor keys to find the name of the book you want. Then click on it.
You may click on the top inner border and drag it down. This will make it easier to find the book you want. Then it would be smart to drag that border back up where it was before.
I have tried to insert the name of the book in the little window above the one with the book's contents. But sometimes the name will appear on the wrong side of the screen. There's a good reason, but I don't know what to do about. (It would require more knowledge of javascript and html than I have.)
Some of the links may not work with a left button click; in that case try the right button.
If you get lost, go back and click on the url window at the top, and then hit RETURN or ENTER.
